Yale Wins Ivy Women’s Rowing Title

CHERRY HILL, N.J. -- In a hard-fought race packed with Ivy contenders, Yale captured the 2009 Ivy Women’s Rowing title at the Eastern Sprints on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.

The Bulldogs’ varsity eight secured its third Ivy title in five years crossing the finish line in a time of 6:21.951, just a hair under a second ahead of Harvard. Yale, which suffered its only dual-race loss against Brown this season, entered the sprints as the second seed behind the Bears. Brown, the two-time defending NCAA champion, finished fourth behind third-place finisher Princeton.
