Radcliffe's Course-Record Win Paces Head Of The Charles for Women's Rowing

BOSTON -- A 1-2 finish by Radcliffe and Brown in the Club Eights race highlighted two days of racing for Ivy League women's rowing at the 49th Head of the Charles Regatta®.
The Black and White's win came in course-record time of 16:41.930 after rowing the final split in a blistering 2:54.995. The Bears finished nearly five seconds behind in 16:46.704.
Yale's first varsity eight turned in a strong performance,
finishing as the second fastest collegiate crew in the Championship
Eights race. The Bulldogs came in fifth with a time of 16:48.112.
Only Virginia (in fourth) finished ahead of the Bulldogs. The
Cambridge Boat Club won with a time of 15:59.549. Other Ivy
finishers included Harvard in seventh, Princeton in 12th, Cornell
in 13th and Penn in 14th.
Brown fared well in the Championship Fours race, placing third behind two USRowing boats which featured former Ivy Leaguers Esther Lofgren (Radcliffe), Olivia Coffey (Radcliffe) and Susan Francia (Penn) in the winning boat and Tessa Gobbo (Brown) and Heidi Robbins (Princeton) in the second-place boat. Yale and Radcliffe finished 14th and 16th, respectively, in the event.
