PRINCETON, N.J. -- Nicki Cutler, previously an assistant women's golf coach at Vanderbilt University, has been named as Princeton University's head coach of women's golf, Director of Athletics Gary Walters has announced.

"Fortunately, we had a wonderful pool of highly competent candidates from which Nicki emerged," Walters said. "That gave those of us who were involved with the search a great deal of confidence that she will have a highly successful career at Princeton. She is bright, has an eager personality and is ready to lead our women's golf student-athletes on the course."

Cutler succeeds Amy Bond, who accepted the head coaching position at Florida State after four years leading the Tigers.

"I'm thrilled to join one of the most prestigious universities in the world," Cutler said. "I'd like to thank Gary for giving me the opportunity to be Princeton's next head coach. I look forward to getting out on the recruiting trail and to working hard with the team come September. I am proud to join the Princeton family and I am eager to embrace its rich academic and athletic traditions."

Returning to her alma mater after playing professionally and developing her coaching career, Cutler served as an assistant coach at Vanderbilt for the last three seasons, beginning in 2007.

This past season, Vanderbilt finished seventh at the NCAA championship and second in the Southeastern Conference, while placing sophomore Marina Alex on the first-team All-America to become just the third Commodore women's golfer ever to achieve that honor. Alex was also the SEC individual champion and the SEC Player of the Year in 2010.

Cutler was an All-America herself, earning honorable mention nationally while getting second-team All-SEC honors in 2001 and 2002.

After graduating from Vanderbilt in 2003, Cutler played on the LPGA Tour in 2005 and the Duramed Futures Tour in 2005 and 2006. Before returning to Nashville, Cutler served as an instructor at the Maidstone Club in East Hampton, N.Y.
