Penn Leads After Day One of the 2012 Ivy League Women's Golf Championship

GALLOWAY, N.J. -- The Ivy League women's golf teams battled the Seaview Golf Resort Bay Course as well as the winds on day one of the 2012 Ivy League Championship.

After the first round, Penn was in first-place with a team score of 326, followed by Yale (328), Harvard (332), Columbia (338), Dartmouth (345), Brown (345) and Princeton (355).

Harvard freshman Bonnie Hu is the individual leader after day one with a first-round score of 77, six-over par. Hu recorded two birdies and 10 pars, on what was a difficult day of golf.

Yale sophomore Sun Gyoung Park finished the first round one stroke behind the leader with a 78, while Penn freshman Amanda Chin carded a 79.

Chin matched Hu's performance with two birdies of her own, while Park led the pack with pars on 12 of the 18 holes.

Last year's individual winner, Columbia sophomore Michelle Piyapattra, shot an 80, as did Penn sophomore Olivia Chang and Yale junior Alexandra Lipa.

Round two will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, with winds that are expected to be around nine miles per hour. Fans will be able to follow the action live via golfstat.com.
