INDIANAPOLIS -- The National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Committee announced Sunday the field of eight teams which will compete for the 12th National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Championship and Cornell earned the No. 3 seed in the bracket.

As the third seed, the Big Red will play host to Boston University in a quarterfinal game at 2:00 p.m. on March 10 at Lynah Rink. Winners of the four quarterfinal games will advance to the 2012 Women's Frozen Four, which will be hosted by Minnesota-Duluth on March 16 and 18 at Amsoil Arena in Duluth, Minn.

Cornell has made consecutive Frozen Four appearances, and a win against Boston University would make it three in a row.

The Bg Red and Boston University met twice during the regular season at Lynah Rink. The Terriers were ranked No. 5 in the country at the time, and the Big Red came away with 3-1 and 7-1 victories on the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Boston University and the Big Red also have NCAA Championship history. Last season, the teams met in the Frozen Four, and the Terriers ended the Big Red's season.

The Terriers, who play in Hockey East, finished the season with a 23-13-1 record. They punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament with a double overtime victory against Providence College just hours before the tournament field was announced.
