Dartmouth, Penn and Princeton Begin NCAA Championship Play
Complete Women's Lacrosse Weekly Release
PRINCETON, N.J. -- Lacrosse Championship. Princeton earned the League's automatic bid as a result of clinching the 2011 Ivy League Women's Lacrosse Tournament on May 8. Dartmouth and Penn received at-large bids into the 16-team field.

IVY LEAGUE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
Two Ivy League programs have earned collegiate women's lacrosse
top honor, as both Harvard and Princeton have been crowned national
champions. Harvard is a one-time champion (1990) while Princeton
has won the title three times (1994, 2002, 2003). The NCAA
officially began sponsorship of the Division I Women's Lacrosse
Championship in 2001. From 1982 through 2000 this championship was
a national collegiate championship.
WELL REPRESENTED IN THE NCAA'S
• There have been 20 championships in which multiple Ivy
League teams have been represented in the
NCAA Championship.
• 2011 marks the sixth time that three teams have advanced to
the NCAA Championship.
• 1983 marks the lone year that four teams earned selection
into the Championship (Dartmouth, Harvard,
Penn and Princeton).
