PRINCETON, N.J. -- A pair of crucial Ivy match-ups took place Saturday, highlighting last week's women's lacrosse action. In a battle of the League's two 4-0 teams, Penn rallied from an early 4-1 deficit against Dartmouth to claim a 10-9 victory at Franklin Field. Caroline Bunting provided the game-winner with just over three minutes remaining.
Also in action were Princeton and Harvard with the Crimson holding on for the 9-8 win. Down 9-5, the Tigers rallied with three consecutive goals, but could not find the equalizer, dropping their first Ivy game of the season.
Penn, Dartmouth and Harvard have all secured qualification to the Ivy League Tournament, which will be held Friday May 6 and Sunday, May 8 at the home site of the regular-season champion. The Quakers have the first opportunity to secure the No. 1 seed and host site with two wins this week.
Elsewhere around the League, Cornell improved to 2-4 in Ivy play with a 14-7 win over Brown and Columbia picked up its first-ever home Ivy win with a 10-3 victory over Yale.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jennifer VanderMeulen (Liverpool, N.Y.) earns her
first Offensive Player of the Week honors of 2011 after leading
Harvard to secure a bid in the Ivy League Tournament.
The sophomore scored seven goals and assisted on three others to help the Crimson to two wins last week, including a 9-8 upset of No. 12 Princeton. VanderMeulen scored three goals and two assists in a 10-6 win over Holy Cross Wednesday and put in four goals and an assist against the Tigers. She scooped up two ground balls, won a draw and caused a turnover in the win over the Tigers. She leads the Crimson with 35 goals and 39 points. She extended her scoring streak to 26 games.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Columbia’s Karlee Blank (Rexford, N.Y.)
earns Defensive Player of the Week honors after combining for 29
saves in two game and helping the Lions to a 2-0 record for the
week. She had 14 saves against Lafayette as Columbia came away with
a 13-11 victory, snapping a six-game losing streak. Blank totaled
15 saves against Yale as the Lions won 10-3, snapping a five-game
Ivy losing streak. Even more significant, the Ivy win was the first
ever in program history on their home field. Blank surrendered a
career-low three goals against the Bulldogs, helping the Lions to
their first-ever win against Yale. Blank now has five games of
double-digit saves on the season.

THIS WEEK
Penn seeks to clinch its fifth consecutive Ivy League title, as
well as fifth consecutive unbeaten Ivy season this week as it
closes out League play against Princeton and at Brown. The Quakers
clinched a berth in the second annual Ivy League Tournament with a
come-from-behind 10-9 win over Dartmouth on April 16.
The Big Green have also secured a spot in the four-team tournament and face Princeton this week. Depending on the outcome of the Penn-Princeton midweek contest, the Dartmouth-Princeton game could have tournament hosting implications.
Harvard, the third team to secure advancement to the Ivy League Tournament, travel to Boston University for a midweek contest before hosting Columbia in the Crimson’s final home game.
The final Ivy match-up of the week is Cornell at Yale. The game is completes the Ivy season for the Big Red while Yale is still in search of its first League win of 2011.
