PRINCETON, N.J. -- Ivy League women’s
lacrosse turns the big 3-5 this year.
The Ancient Eight kicks off its 2014 campaign this weekend, with all eight squads in action.
On Saturday, Feb. 22, the 35th season of Ivy League women’s lacrosse officially begins when Yale hosts Holy Cross at 11:30 a.m. At 1:00 p.m., Brown will play Iona, Dartmouth will take on New Hampshire, No. 17 Princeton will face No. 6 Loyola (Md.) and No. 16 Penn will square off against Delaware. Three hours later, Harvard will take on No. 14 Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif.
Sunday, Feb. 23 features four games. Cornell opens its 2014 season at noon against Temple, followed by Sacred Heart at Brown and LIU at Columbia at 1:00 p.m., with Harvard again taking up the rear, as the Crimson will play St. Mary’s (Calif.) at 3:00 p.m.
Five games this weekend will be streamed on The Ivy League® Digital Network: Holy Cross at Yale, Iona at Brown and Delaware at Penn on Saturday; Temple at Cornell and Sacred Heart at Brown on Sunday.
The Quakers went 7-0 in Ivy play to win the regular-season title for the seventh-straight year. They went on to win the Ivy League Tournament, defeating Dartmouth in the final. Three of the four teams who reached the Ivy League Tournament proceeded to the NCAA Tournament, as Penn was joined by Princeton and the Big Green. Dartmouth reached the second round before being bounced by eventual Final Four participant and fourth-seed Syracuse.
