Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards - Week 6

PRINCETON, N.J. -- After big wins and near upsets against top competition, the Ivy League women’s lacrosse weekly awards were announced with Harvard senior Marisa Romeo and Penn senior Emily Rogers-Healion sharing Offensive Player of the Week and Cornell senior Renee Poullott receiving Defensive Player of the Week.

CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Harvard senior attack Marisa Romeo (Syracuse, N.Y.) poured in 11 points in two games to lead the Crimson to a 1-1 week. Romeo scored four goals and assisted another in her team’s 13-7 win over Ohio State, with three goals and her assist coming in the final 15 minutes of the game to turn an 8-7 Harvard lead to a 12-7 advantage. She then posted three goals and three assists against No. 6 Syracuse, including five points in the second half as Harvard came back from a 14-8 deficit to send the game to overtime.

Romeo earns her second Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season and third of her career.

Penn senior attack Emily Rogers-Healion (East Setauket, N.Y.) powered the Quakers past No. 16 Duke, finishing with seven points on four goals and three assists in the 16-6 victory. She had a hand in the Quakers’ first three goals of the second half as they turned a 6-4 lead to 9-4, before going on to win by 10.

Rogers-Healion earns her first career Ivy League weekly award.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cornell senior goalie Renee Poullott (Syracuse, N.Y.) was critical in the Big Red’s win over No. 5 USC, with 10 saves and a 50.0 save percentage in the 11-10 victory. Six of her saves came in the second half to fend off the Trojan’s comeback bid as Cornell improved to 2-1 against nationally ranked opponents this season.

Poullott receives her first Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season and fifth of her career.
