Ivy League Sends 21 Wrestlers to NCAA Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Ivy League will be represented by 21 total wrestlers at the 2011 NCAA Wrestling Championship contested on March 17-19 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Ninteen Ivy wrestlers earned automatic qualification from their placewinner status at the EIWA Championship on March 5-6. Two additional wrestlers – Cornell's Justin Kerber (165) and Penn's Scott Giffin (174) were granted at-large bids.
Cornell has seven wrestlers seeded in the top 12 of their respective weight classes with junior Cam Simaz holding the top spot at 197 pounds. Following a runner-up finish at the 2010 NCAA Championship, and a No. 1 ranking for the majority of this season, the Big Red will be in the hunt for its first-ever wrestling national title.
Penn has a trio of seeded wrestlers, led by No. 6 Micah Burak (197) while Harvard's Walter Peppelman (157) is seeded No. 11.
