Women's Soccer Ivies Earn National Recognition

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Another strong showing by Ivy League women's soccer teams last week has led to national recognition for a handful of Ivy individuals.

Princeton's Caitlin Blosser has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's Team of the Week for Monday, Sept 6 through Sunday Sept. 12. Meanwhile, Blosser and Brown's Kiersten Berg both made the collegesoccer360.com Primetime Performers of the Week (Sept. 6-12, 2010) list.

Blosser had two goals and two assists last week as Princeton earned wins over Hartford (1-0) and James Madison (6-3). Berg near single-handedly led the Brown Bears to a 2-1 win over then No. 22 Monmouth on Sunday. The Salt Lake City native scored the first two goals of her collegiate career in the upset win for the Bears.

Along with the individual honors, the NCAA released the first national stats summary of the season, with a peppering of Ivy players among the top of the rankings.

Blosser and teammate Jen Hoy rank No. 15 and No. 18, respectively, in points per game. Blosser also ranks No. 2 in assists per game and No. 8 in total assists. Hoy ranks No. 8 in goals per game.

Columbia's Kelly Hostetler is No. 8 in assists per game and No. 20 in total assists while fellow Lion Lillian Klein is No. 17 in goals against average. Yale's Ayana Sumiyasu rounds out the Ivies ranked in the top 20, holding down the No. 20 spot in save percentage.
