Harvard's Baskind Selected to Capital One Academic® All-America First Team

TOWSON, Md. -- Senior co-captain Melanie Baskind of the Harvard women’s soccer team has earned a nod to the Capital One Academic® All-America first team. Baskind, a native of Framingham, Mass, was the only Ivy League women’s soccer player to earn Academic All-America accolades this season.
A co-captain, Baskind was the unanimous choice as the Ivy League Player of the Year. She also garnered All-Ivy first-team accolades after tying for the Ivy League lead with 24 points, eight goals and eight assists. A two-time Academic All-Ivy choice and a three-time Academic All-District honoree, as well as an Academic All-America second-team choice in 2010, Baskind received All-Ivy honors in each of her four seasons in Cambridge.
A nominee for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award this fall, Baskind concluded her career ranked tied for sixth in program history with 79 career points, is sixth with 25 assists and stands seventh with 27 goals. She helped Harvard win three Ivy League title and advance to the NCAA tournament in 2008, 2009 and 2011. Baskind also serves as a co-captain of the Harvard women’s lacrosse team.
