PRINCETON, N.J. -- An 11-7 record during week
three gave the Ivy League an overall record above .500, at 25-24-2,
for the season. Six teams won at least one game last week,
including four squads that were undefeated. Yale led the way with a
3-0 mark, while Brown, Columbia and Dartmouth each went 2-0 and
Harvard and Penn finished with a pair of 1-1 records.
So it seems that the League is hitting its stride just in time for
the start of Ivy play, which kicks off on Friday, Sept. 21, when
Harvard travels to Penn and Cornell takes on Columbia. On Saturday,
Princeton faces Yale and then on Sunday, Dartmouth hosts Brown.
Which is not to say that the non-conference schedule is over.
During week four, the Tigers will play Lafayette, Brown will face
UMass, Dartmouth will take on NJIT, Penn will play Boise State and
Cornell will host Niagara.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
At the start of the week, Yale was in sixth-place with a 2-3
record. Three wins later, the Bulldogs find themselves in
second-place, having outscored opponents 11-2 in the three games.
Senior midfielder Kristen Forster (Trumbull,
Conn.) was a factor in more than half of her team’s goals on
the week, with three scores and three assists.
All three of Forster’s goals were the gamewinners for her
team. She opened her week with a one-goal, three-assist performance
in Yale’s 8-1 win over Saint Peter’s, which marked the
highest offensive output for the Bulldogs since a 9-0 win over
Wagner in 2002. She then scored the golden goal in overtime in her
team's 2-1 victory over Iona and finished her week with the
game’s lone goal in Yale’s 1-0 win over Central
Connecticut State.
Forster is the second Bulldog to earn a weekly award this season,
joining freshman Paula Hagopian, who took home
Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 3. Forster earned her
second-career Ivy League weekly award and her first Player of the
Week honor after being named Rookie of the Week on Oct. 19, 2009.
She is the first Bulldog to receive Player of the Week accolades
since Enma Mullo on Sept. 19, 2011.

CO-ROOKIES OF THE WEEK
The first collegiate goals for Dartmouth freshman Corey
Delaney (Chatham, N.J.) and Penn freshman Erin
Mikolai (Quakerstown, Pa.) also served as the gamewinners
for their respective teams as the two share Rookie of the Week
honors.
Delaney netted her first goal in a Big Green uniform just 11
minutes into the team’s win at Fordham. Her score turned out
to be the gamewinner, as Dartmouth went on to take the contest,
3-0. Delaney is the first Big Green to earn Rookie of the Week
honors since November 8, 2010, when Chrissy Lozier
took home the award. She is the second Dartmouth player to receive
an Ivy League honor this season, as senior Emma
Brush was named Player of the Week on Sept. 10.

Mikolai had to wait a little longer to get her first career score,
as it came in overtime of Penn’s 3-2 win over Sacramento
State. She collaborated with fellow freshman Elissa
Berdini on the goal, which ended her team’s
three-game losing streak. Mikolai is the first Quaker to earn an
Ivy League weekly award this season and the first Penn Rookie of
the Week since Megan York took home the honor on
Oct. 3, 2011.
