NSCAA Women's Soccer All-Region Teams Announced
PRINCETON, N.J. -- The National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) announced its All-Region honorees,
and nine Ivies found their way to the teams.
Penn sophomore defender Caroline Dwyer and Harvard freshman forward Midge Purce, who combined to take home all three Ivy League postseason awards, were each named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Region first team. Purce, the only freshman on the Mid-Atlantic first team, was voted Ivy League Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year, while Dwyer was named Defensive Player of the Year. Dwyer is just the second player in the Penn history to earn first-team all-region, joining Katy Cross (2001).
Three Ivies earned second-team All-Region honors, including a pair from Harvard in senior defender Peyton Johnson and sophomore midfielder Haley Washburn. They were joined by Princeton senior midfielder Gabriella Guzman.
Rounding out the rest of the All-Region honors, Columbia senior forward Beverly Leon, Harvard junior midfielder Meg Casscells-Hamby, Penn sophomore goalkeeper Kalijah Terilli and Yale junior defender Meredith Speck were all named to the third team. For Casscells-Hamby, it marks her second-straight All-Region honor, as she received third team accolades last season.
