Women's Squash Update - 2

PRINCETON, N.J. -- As seven Ivies occupy the Top 10 spots in the national rankings, the Ivy League women's squash slate shifts into high gear this weekend.

Princeton took over the top spot in the rankings with its win over Harvard three weeks ago. The Crimson are No. 2 in the rankings, followed by third-ranked Penn. Yale is fifth, followed by Cornell at No. 6, Dartmouth at No. 8 and Brown at No. 9.  

Brown (10-1, 1-1 Ivy League)
Results & Highlights:
The No. 9-ranked Bears have won five in a row entering a big showdown with third-ranked Penn this Saturday. Brown will play four matches over the weekend, three of them involving Top 10-ranked teams. Sarah Beresford has been solid in the lower half of the lineup, compiling an 8-1 mark thus far. 

This Weekend: Brown will play two matches each Saturday and Sunday at home. It hosts No. 3 Penn and No. 7 Stanford on Saturday and No. 1 Princeton and No. 13 George Washington on Sunday. 

Columbia (3-6, 0-3 Ivy League)
Results & Highlights:
Columbia is ranked No. 12 in the latest Women's CSA Team poll. The Lions lost a pair last weekend on the road, falling at No. 11 Middlebury (6-3) and No. 10 Williams (7-2). Reyna Pacheco is 5-4 at No. 2 to lead the way for the Lions this far. 

This Weekend: Columbia concludes its eight-match road trip this weekend when it visits top-ranked Harvard on Saturday and eighth-ranked Dartmouth on Sunday.  

Cornell (9-2, 2-1 Ivy League)
Results & Highlights:
Cornell is ranked No. 6 in the latest Women's CSA Team poll. The Big Red saw their five-match winning streak snapped last Sunday in a narrow 5-4 loss at home to fourth-ranked Trinity. Abbey Foster has been strong for the Big Red in the middle of the lineup this season, winning her first nine matches before a five-set setback to Trinity's Ashley Tidman last weekend. Danielle Letourneau is 6-2 at No. 1 for Cornell thus far.  

This Weekend: Cornell visits eighth-ranked Dartmouth on Saturday and top-ranked Harvard  on Sunday.  

Dartmouth (4-5, 0-3 Ivy League)
Results & Highlights:
Dartmouth is ranked No. 8 in the latest Women's CSA Team poll. The Big Green snapped a four-match losing skid with a 9-0 win over Bates two weeks ago. After having off last weekend, the Big Green will close out the regular season with four out of five matches at home. Helena Darling (6-3) and Lydie McKenzie (6-2) have had strong seasons thus far in shoring up the lower half of the Dartmouth lineup. 

This Weekend: Dartmouth hosts sixth ranked Cornell on Saturday and No. 12 Columbia on Sunday.  

Harvard (7-1, 2-1 Ivy League)
Results & Highlights:
Defending national champion Harvard bounced back from its first setback of the season with a pair of 9-0 wins over Hamilton and Amherst two weeks ago. The Crimson had off last weekend. Harvard sits at No. 2 in the latest Women's CSA Team poll, trailing Princeton which handed the Crimson their lone loss, 5-4, on January 13. The loss to Princeton snapped Harvard's 22-match winning streak. Laura Gemmell is 6-0 thus far this season for Harvard. Natasha Kingshot, playing in the middle of the order, is a perfect 7-0. In the big showdown with Princeton, Harvard's Amanda Sobhy got the better of three-time All-Ivy selection Julie Cerullo in a three-game sweep.    

This Weekend: Harvard plays host to No. 12 Columbia on Saturday and sixth-ranked Cornell on Sunday.  

Penn (7-2, 1-2 Ivy League)
Results & Highlights:
Penn climbed to No. 3 in the Women's CSA Team poll after knocking off Trinity, 6-3, but lost its last outing on Wednesday night, 9-0, at top-ranked Princeton. Despite the 9-0 score, however, four of the matches were decided in five games. Camille Lanier is 7-1 for the Quakers this season, suffering her first setback of the year in a five-game thriller against Princeton's Tara Harrington on Wednesday night (6-11, 11-7, 11-7, 9-11, 12-10).  

This Weekend: Penn will play three matches on the road this weekend. The Quakers will face No. 7 Stanford at Brown before facing ninth-ranked Brown on Saturday. Penn will then visit fifth-ranked Yale on Sunday.   

Princeton (6-0, 3-0 Ivy League)
Results & Highlights:
Princeton is ranked No. 1 currently and is coming off a 9-0 win over Penn on Wednesday night.  Nicole Bunyan is a perfect 6-0 thus far for the Tigers, playing in the Nos. 2 and 3 positions. Tara Harrington is also a perfect 6-0 at the bottom of the lineup after pulling out a pair of five-game winners in her last two outings. 

This Weekend: Princeton will face No. 7 Stanford at Yale on Friday night. Then the Tigers will visit fifth-ranked Yale on Saturday and ninth-ranked Brown on Sunday.   

Yale (9-1, 2-0 Ivy League)
Results & Highlights:
Yale dropped from third to fifth in the latest Women's CSA Team poll. The Bulldogs dropped a 5-4 decision at fourth-ranked Trinity on January 23 in their last outing. Anne Harrison is a solid 9-0 for the Bulldogs thus far this season, her latest win coming in four games against Trinity's Jennifer Pelletier

This Weekend: Yale hosts a big weekend as it faces No. 1 Princeton on Saturday and No. 3 Penn on Sunday.
