Yale Dropped by Duke in NCAA Women's Tennis Second Round

DURHAM, N.C. -- Yale's postseason run ended with a 4-0 loss to third-ranked and host Duke in the second round of the 2011 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships.

Duke dominated the match throughout, beginning withEllah Nze and Rachel Kahan blanking Yale's Annie Sullivan and Lindsay Clark 8-0 on court one at No. 1 doubles. The Blue Devils grabbed the doubles point at the No. 2 spot with a 8-4 win over the Bulldog duo of Elizabeth Epstein and Vicky Brook.

Wins at the No. 4, 5 and 6 singles spots secured the victory for the Blue Devils, which will face ACC foe and No. 14 overall seed Georgia Tech in the round of 16. Elizabeth Plotkin, playing in the No. 4 spot, dropped just a single point as she cruised to a 6-0, 6-1, win over Steph Kent. Minutes after Plotkin's win, Rachel Kahan picked up her 28th consecutive win and remained unbeaten in dual matches this season with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Annie Sullivan.

For the second-straight match, Mary Clayton sealed the win for the Blue Devils at the No. 6 spot with a 6-1, 6-2, decision over Stevi Petrelli.
