PRINCETON, N.J. -- Only three Ivy League
women's tennis teams take to the courts on the first weekend of
fall tournament play for the 2013-14 season with Columbia and
Cornell hosting their own invitationals.
Columbia hosts Penn, along with Amherst and St. John's, at Dick Savitt Tennis Center for a three-day tournament featuring four draws of singles competition and two draws of doubles competition. Cornell welcomes Akron, Albany, Binghamton, Cleveland State and Lehigh to the Reis Tennis Center for a three-event that features three singles brackets and two doubles brackets.
Next weekend, four other Ivies get their first fall action. Brown hosts its own invitational, Dartmouth and Harvard play in the Tribe Invitational hosted by William & Mary, Princeton goes on the road to Kansas City, Mo., for the Mizzou Tennis Invite and Penn plays host to several teams, including Columbia, Cornell and Princeton, for the Cissie Leary Invitational.
Yale's first court time of the fall comes Sept. 28 when senior Annie Sullivan and sophomore Madeleine Hamilton, the reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Year, participate in the Riviera/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women's All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
