PRINCETON, N.J. -- Ivy League tennis is back on the courts on both the men's and women's sides this weekend with opening matches in the 2014 NCAA Division I Tennis Championships.
The women's teams are up first with first-round matches on Friday, May 9. In its first NCAA Tournament appearance, Columbia (16-4, 5-2 Ivy League) plays Kentucky (16-11, 5-8 SEC) at 10 a.m., followed by host Virginia taking on Youngstown State at 1 p.m. from the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville, Va. League champion Princeton (18-5, 7-0 Ivy) faces Arizona State (18-7, 5-5 Pac-12) at 2 p.m. prior to Alabama squaring off against Jackson State on its home courts in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Over on the men's side, both teams open NCAA Tournament play on Saturday, May 10. Ivy champion and national No. 16 seed Columbia (20-1, 7-0 Ivy) and East Tennessee State (14-8, 7-8 Atlantic Sun) get things started in the first round at 11 a.m. from the Currey Tennnis Center in Nashville, Tenn. Host Vanderbilt follows in the other first-round matchup against Virginia Tech at 2 p.m. Harvard (17-6, 6-1 Ivy) meets Auburn (14-13, 4-8 SEC) in a first-round match at Noon from the Headington Tennis Center in Norman, Okla. Host Oklahoma opens with Montana at 3 p.m.
