PHILADELPHIA — The Princeton women ended seven years of Cornell dominance to claim its first outdoor title in 20 years, while the Big Red men won its seventh straight Heps team championship today at historic Franklin Field.

The Tiger women edged out runner-up Cornell, who entered the event winners of seven consecutive outdoor titles, by just seven points, 153-146. They were followed in the final standings by Columbia (107), Harvard (87), Brown (69), Dartmouth (64), Penn (57) and Yale (30).

Brown sophomore Brynn Smith, who won the shot put and hammer throw, took home women's Athlete of the Meet honors. In the shot, Smith became just the third woman to throw 50 feet at Heps, measuring 15.29 meters (50-2). Her victorious mark in the hammer was 56.23 meters (184-5).

On the men's side, Cornell scored 165 points to win its seventh straight outdoor title, tying a Heps record set by Penn (1971-77). Finishing in second-place was Princeton with 138, followed by Penn (76), Brown (64), Dartmouth (57), Harvard (54), Yale (49) and Columbia (48).

The men’s Athlete of the Meet was Cornell junior jumper Duane Teixeira, who swept the long and triple jumps. He won the long jump with a mark of 7.45 meters (24-5 1/2), more than a foot better than the rest of the field. His winning triple jump mark was a wind-assisted 15.67 meters (51-5).
