NEW HAVEN, Conn.- After securing an NCAA Tournament
berth by winning the third Ivy League Championship in program history on Nov.
15, the Yale volleyball team finally learned its postseason destination on Sunday
night. The NCAA announced that Yale will meet Ohio University, tournament champions
the Mid-American Conference, in round one action on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Penn
State University. The host Nittany Lions, the tournament's No. 1 overall
seed, will challenge Long Island University on Friday evening. The winners of
each match will meet in round two on Saturday at 4 p.m.
"It's exciting to be a part of the NCAA Tournament," said
Yale Head Coach Erin Appleman. "This weekend will be both a great opportunity
and a great challenge for our team."
Yale and Ohio have met only once before, a 3-0 victory for the then-No. 17 ranked
Bobcats at the 2006 Holiday Inn Express Invitational hosted by Stony Brook University.
